THE WAY THAT WORKS IS THEY WE HAVE A MEETING WITH ALL OF THE SURROUNDING AGENCIES, AND THE EL PASO COUNTY SHERIFF LETS US KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY IS ON THE TABLE. THEN EVERYBODY STARTS MAKING THE REQUESTS ON WHAT THEY NEED FOR THEIR DEPARTMENT AND DEPENDING ON THE REQUEST BEING REASONABLE, THAT IS THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT EACH AGENCY OBTAINS. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS ALSO TO ENHANCE INTERAGENCY BORDER SECURITY OPERATIONS. SUPPORTING OPERATION STONE GARDEN, REDUCE BORDER RELATED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY IN THE TOWN OF HORIZON CITY TO DECREASE THE SUPPLY OF DRUGS SMUGGLED INTO THE TOWN OF HORIZON CITY FROM MEXICO. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IT MEANS THAT WE PUT MORE OFFICERS ON THE GROUND AND WE CONDUCT MORE

EXCUSE ME, THE AMOUNT OF OF THE AWARD FOR LAST YEAR WAS $144,870, WHICH ALLOWED US TO PURCHASE A 2024 FORD F-150 4X4 PICKUP. WITH ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT, THE TOWN OF HORIZON DID NOT HAVE TO PAY A CENT. FUNDING WAS LOW FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR DUE TO GOVERNMENT CUTS, BUT FUNDING FOR FY 2026 IS PROJECTED TO DOUBLE TO AN INCREASED BUDGET FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY. AND THEN THERE'S ALSO KIDS THAT ARE LIKE, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE SOME OF THEM LIKE DON'T LIVE LIKE CLOSE BY, THAT THEY'LL COME EVERY OTHER WEEK. BUT THEY'RE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL IN WHAT YOU'RE TEACHING THEM. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? AND THEN OF COURSE, AT SOME POINT ALL KIDS GET TO THAT 1617 AGE AND THEN THEY'RE GONE FOR LIKE HALF A YEAR BECAUSE THEY GO TO DRIVER'S ED. SO THE SUCCESS I THINK REALLY COMES IN. AND THE KIDS THAT COME BACK TO LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS AND. AND JUST GENERALLY NEVER SEEING THEM IN THE HOLDING CELLS. I THINK THAT'S ONE OF THE THAT'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST METRICS FOR ME PERSONALLY, HAVING WORKED AS PROGRAM OVER THE LAST, PROBABLY LIKE 18 OUT OF MY 20 YEARS IS, IS WHEN I DON'T SEE THESE KIDS, YOU KNOW, THAT WE DEAL WITH THEM LIKE, MAN, THAT'S GOOD.
